About Me
I’m Ethan Baker, an incoming graduate student pursuing an M.Eng. in Computer Science at Cornell University and a senior undergrad majoring in Industrial and Labor Relations. My interest in Computer Science and Engineering stems from my experience building tools that helped to improve small business operations, which sparked my drive to explore the intersection of technology and social impact. Now, I apply these skills as an AI Researcher at the U.S. Department of State, where I work to mitigate the risk of national and industrial espionage through the use of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) in the VISA adjudication process.
With my diverse background in ILR and CS, I am able to both identify and solve social issues through technology. Going forward, I seek to focus on issues in the developing world of AI, such as reducing environmental impacts and addressing bias and misinformation in machine learning algorithms. I plan to explore employment opportunities as an intern in the summer of 2025 and start full-time in early 2026.
